More Cooling. Less Noise. The Air-Cooled X22 Spindles

A central focus of our development work at SPINOGY was optimizing the air-cooled X22 high-frequency spindles. The goal was to further improve thermal performance while significantly reducing noise – especially at high speeds.

The result is our Performance and High-Performance fan grilles, which are deployed depending on the spindle configuration.

Thanks to a completely redesigned inflow geometry and targeted adjustments to the fan spacing, we were able to make the airflow considerably more efficient. Bearing cooling is improved, turbulence is reduced and the air routing is optimized. At the same time, the spindle’s noise emission drops noticeably.

The results speak for themselves:

Noise Reduction

Sound pressure level: up to 3 dB (Performance) or 4 dB (High-Performance) quieter

Combined with the powerful ebm-papst fans, this enables speeds of up to 55,000 rpm – and that with an air-cooled spindle.

What mattered most to us was not only maximum performance, but also everyday practicality in real-world use. Less fan noise means a more pleasant working environment and allows focused work even during long run times and at high speeds.

The new fan grilles are another example of how much potential lies even in seemingly small details when development is consistently geared toward performance, efficiency and hands-on experience.
